Apple Releases New Get a Mac Ad: ‘PC Innovation Lab’

Get a Mac AdApple has just added the new ‘PC Innovations Lab’ ad to their Get a Mac Ad Campaign yesterday. The new ad suggests ridiculous “innovations” that PC thinks will help bring people back to the world of Windows. Justin Long and John Hodgman reprise their roles as Mac and PC, respectively.

The American ad campaign started in 2006 and featured other celebrities like supermodel Gisele Bundchen, actresses Corinne Bohrer, Mary Chris Wall, Judy Greer, and actor Patrick Warburton, It also has British and Japanese versions.

First Ever Solar-Powered Waterproof Cell Phone

Sharp's Solar-powered Waterproof PhoneSharp and Japanese network KDDI Corp. had teamed up to develop the world’s first “eco-friendly” cellphone.

The yet-to-be-priced phone has a solar panel on top that can derive 80% of its charge in total from the sun. A 10-minute solar charge will be able to provide one minute of talk time or two hours of standby power.

The Sharp handset is due for release in Japan by June but there is no shedule for a U.S. or worldwide release yet.

Globe Launches WiMax

Globe Telecom just announced that their Globe WiMax (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) service is now commercially available, initially in South Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao and will reach other parts of the country soon.

Samsung’s New N310 Netbook

Samsung unveiled its latest netbook, Samsung N310, which is set for worldwide release soon. It has a unique ’rounded pebble like design’ keyboard & frameless screen and Samsung claims that the 10.1 inch, 1.23 kg budget netbook can sustain up to five hours of battery life. Also, another interesting feature of Samsung N310 is that its keyboard can possibly be bacteria-free as it has been coated with an antibacterial protection. Available colors will be black, red and dark blue.

Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 8 Unveiled

Internet Explorer 8 Internet Explorer 8 is now officially released. After a year of public testing, its final version is now ready for download. Microsoft said that they’ve been working with developers and evaluators to check the stability, security and ease of use of the new and improved Internet Explorer. They also claim that IE8 performs faster than Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. If this is the case then I think Internet Explorer may still have a chance to redeem itself and can still be a solid competitor in the “Battle of the Browsers”.
