A-List Actors to Star in Three Stooges Movie

MGM and Farrelly Brothers of ‘There’s Something About Mary’ fame have chosen their cast for the upcoming film The Three Stooges and quite unlikely names were attached to the starring roles. Oscar winner Sean Penn has already signed on to star as Larry Fine. On the other hand, negotiations are underway with Jim Carrey to play Jerome “Curly” Howard and Benicio del Torro for the role of the trio’s slapstick leader Moe Howard.

The film, originally constructed to be 4 separate short films, has been streamlined into a single narrative and will chronicle how the legendary comedic trio came together.

MGM plans to begin production early fall and the film’s target release date is sometime in 2010.

UPDATE:

It has been reported that both Sean Penn and Jim Carrey dropped out of the  2012 “Three Stooges” movie. Paul Giamatti replaces Sean Penn as Larry while the role of Curly is still to be cast.
