Joining Michael Fassbender (X-Men: First Class, Shame) and Chiwetel Ejiofor (Othello, 2012) in Steve McQueen’s third film, Twelve Years a Slave, is Hollywood A-lister Brad Pitt.
The film is based on Solomon Northup’s 1853 autobiography. Northrup is a free black man who was tricked & kidnapped in Washington City, put in a slave pen and suffered 12 years of enslavement by various owners until a white Canadian carpenter helped smuggle letters to Northup’s wife, who in turn initiated a court case that finally set him free.
John Ridley and McQueen co-wrote the script and Pitt’s company Plan B is producing the film.
