Though The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn is yet to be shown in UK and US theaters, a possible sequel might be underway and confirmed to take the helm on the next Tintin is Peter Jackson. According to the first movie’s director Steven Spielberg, the project hasn’t been given a green light yet but they have been given permission to do some forward planning.
“[Sony and Paramount] were willing to do one movie with us and then give us the financial werewithal to develop a script, do all the visual storyboards and get it really in launch position. So we can launch pretty quickly on a second movie. The script is already written,” said Spielberg.
Jackson co-produced the first film with Spielberg and they’re also hoping to co-direct a third film.
The Adventures of Tintin is based on a series of comic books of the same title created by Belgian artist Hergé (Georges Rémi). The hero of the series is Tintin, a young Belgian reporter. He is aided in his adventures by several characters, and one of those popular ones is Captain Haddock.
The film will be released in Europe this week, and in US on December 21.
