Fame (2009)
A remake of the original 1980 Oscar-winning hit film, Fame is about a talented group of actors, dancers, singers, and artists attending the New York City High School for the Performing Arts, where these diverse group of students from all walks of life, through their talent, dedication and hard work, are given a chance to live out their dreams and achieve fame.
As each student strives for his or her moment in the spotlight while dealing with everything else that goes along with high school, they’ll also discover who among them has the innate talent and necessary discipline to succeed and eventually find real and lasting fame.

Trivia:
- Kevin Tancharoen directed this remake of Fame. It’s his feature film directorial debut. Among his notable works include being a choreographer for Madonna, directing Britney Spears’ The Onyx Hotel Tour and co-creating DanceLife on MTV.
- The soundtrack was released to stores and digital outlets on August 25, 2009. It features a blend of classic songs and new pieces written specifically for the movie.
- Included songs from the original movie are the piano ballad Out Here On My Own and the title theme, Fame (both sung by Irene Cara in the original film, now sung by Naturi Naughton who’s playing Irene’s role in the remake).
- The school is based on the real-life Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music and Art and Performing Arts (formerly known as The High School of Performing Arts) in Manhattan. It is a public school, and therefore available to any New York City high school student who successfully auditions.
- Anna Maria Perez de Tagle, who’s playing the role of Joy Moy, is the granddaughter of 1950s Philippine actress and singer Sylvia La Torre. Anna is best known for playing Ashley Dewitt in Disney Channel show Hannah Montana and Ella Pador in Disney Channel Original Movie Camp Rock.
