The Proposal
Margaret Tate is a ruthless, selfish, driven and tactless executive editor-in-chief of a book publishing company. But when a problem with her Visa threatens to send her back to Canada and destroy her career, she needs to come up with a solution..fast. Desperate times call for desperate measures so Margaret forces her young assistant Andrew Paxton to marry her in order to avoid being deported. He grudgingly accepts the proposal with a condition that he can secure an editorial position within the company. Unfortunately, the government needs to investigate and so the two are forced to spend the weekend with his parents in Alaska and embark on a humiliating charade to make the marriage seem legitimate.

- Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock are great pals in real life, thus they have a perfect rapport on screen.
- Sandra Bullock plays a Canadian who marries her assistant (Ryan Reynolds) in order to keep her Visa status in the U.S. and avoid deportation to Canada. In real life, Reynolds is from Canada and Bullock is American.
- 225 Franklin St, Boston, was the real location of The Colden Books office. The entire main office, including Margaret’s & Bob’s offices, were completely rebuilt and replicated at Disney Studios in Burbank, CA for pickups and re-shoots in January 2009.
