Globe Launches WiMax
Globe Telecom just announced that their Globe WiMax (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) service is now commercially available, initially in South Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao and will reach other parts of the country soon.
WiMax is a standards-based technology designed to enable the deployment of wireless broadband access as a cost-efficient alternative to cable and wired broadband DSL. As compared to WiFi, CDMA or 3G, WiMax has greater reach and it can cover distances greater than those covered by the aforementioned wireless technologies. It uses the 802.16 connection and it can give Globe subscribers a maximum bandwidth of 512 kbps for only P795 per month (VAT inclusive). Globe also offers a one month money-back guarantee.
